- Get 3 removal firms estimates for van hire
- Choose firm: confirm arrangements
- Alert friends and family for help on the day (packing, driving, providing meals, cleaning up)
Old Address
- Arrange for utility meters to be read
- Arrange for disconnection of washing machine, dishwasher
- Arrange for carpets to be cleaned if required
New Address
- Arrange for taking over gas, electricity
- Arrange for reconnection of cooker, washing machine, dishwasher
- Arrange for carpets to be laid, site dependant (may already be included)
In General
- Notify telephone sales office of date account to be closed
- Apply to take over telephone or request new telephone to be installed
- Change of address cards – buy or print
- Post office – apply for redirection of mail
- Arrange insurance of contents at new house from moving in date
- Start sorting and throwing out things
- Arrange extra rubbish disposal
- Get boxes, packing material
- Buy stick on labels
- Children – arrange to leave with relatives/friends
- Pets – book kennels if necessary
